Rev. Benji Crucifies the Competition!
Rev. Benji of Pittsburgh, PA gives thanks to God in a special way by winning the 1st Annual Madden '99 Playstation Tournament, held on February 21, 1999 at Notorious Styles in Wilkinsburg, PA.
The good Dr., Rev. Benji set the tone by displaying his skills against a tough opponent, Russell Flewellen, in the first round. Rev. proved that he was not to be taken lightly by staying focused on his skills and asking God to lead the way. In the end, the best moved on to round two.
In round two, Rev. met up with a tough kid from the Northside of Pittsburgh and that kid was Billy Brenner. Once again, the Rev. brought the total package and said, "If you want to beat me, you must be down with God." The word was beginning to filter around the tournament that Rev. is a baller! Whatever was filtering around the tournament, it did not phase Scott Alaksin from New Brighten, PA. Scott finally pulled Rev's cout tail to let him know that his game needs to be a little tighter.
Much to Gain When Skills are Required!
After sending the Rev. back to the lab, Scott continued his reign on his opponents. He laid Dave Slover to rest, en route to the championship round. He then went on to spank Mike Thomas in the 5th round. The crowd grew silent because Mike was the favorite to take the tournament. While all this was happening, Rashiad was preparing to use his wisdom and eldership to bring the young 15 year old phenom, Stephon Breaston, down to earth. Rashiad was mentally prepared to accept the challenge but Steven slipped and made a metal rookie mistake by using his last timeout inappropriately, and Rashiad took home the victory.
Final Round
The final stage was set when Rev. Benji just rolled through the losers bracket with reckless abandon where he met up with Scott who put it to Rev. earlier in the tournament. Rev. redeemed himself by putting non-believers to rest at 1:45 AM by winning the tournament with the Patriots. rev. took home the trophy and a $200 grand prize. Rev. owes everything he does to God. His presence's was a blessing to have and his sportsmanship overshadowed the victory because Rev. practices what he preaches! The Rev's best quote for the day was, "I have no girlfriend, don't smoke, don't drink, but I love Playstation!"
